Indy Do Day is “a people-powered community day of service when the residents of Indianapolis take ownership of their neighborhoods and take care of the neighbors.” An outgrowth of the Eli Lilly Global Day of Service, the company’s annual day of volunteerism, the 2013 iteration featured more than local 60 companies doing good throughout the city over a three-day period from October 10th to the 12th. One of those organizations was CICF – and friends.
CICF employees took the opportunity to spruce up the exterior of 37 Place: The Heartbeat of Martindale Brightwood by putting in new plants and landscaping around the base of the historic structure. Then CICF’s Indy Do Day team approached Board member Lee White for help.
White is the Vice President of Mainscape, an award-winning commercial landscaping firm located in Fishers. The original request sought help with supplies and equipment needed for the job; White and Mainscape responded by providing a landscape architect, truckloads of mulch and plants, along with a crew that transformed the entire northside of the building (while CICF’s team finished the building’s eastside). The result? 37 Place is even more inspiring than it was before, thanks to CICF employees, Lee White and Mainscape and a shared commitment to doing it right.
