About 20 percent of families in Marion County earn less than $25,000 annually. The same percentage lacks the savings to make ends meet for three months if they lose employment. Though they’re working, they remain one crisis away from economic catastrophe – a car that won’t start, day care that falls through, a sudden health problem, or a missed loan payment. What are the right tools to help them successfully make the leap to a better life that they can pass on to their children?

- Access to timely, family-friendly services in their neighborhood
- Bankability through better connections to financial counseling programs
- Employability through targeted job training, job supports, and/or scholarships
- Assets through homeownership, entrepreneurship, and other programs that help break down barriers and incentivize savings
