CICF's board members, volunteers and staff are proud of our strong partnerships with charitable organizations and donors to improve the lives of area residents. These partnerships give CICF the lense through which we can see and interpret community issues, trends and best practices.

Step 1: Grantseeker's Guide
Read our Grantseeker's Guide to help you apply for a grant from any of CICF's competitive funds. It explains our policies, grantmaking priorities, our processes and the factors that shape our decisions.

2009 Funding Priorities
Given the current economic climate, in 2009 The Indianapolis Foundation, and the Legacy Fund, are interested in supporting organizations that have received a previous grant from the foundation and have a  longstanding relationship with CICF, preference is given to organizations supported in the last five years.  In addition, there is a priority interest in assisting organizations that provide basic need services for individuals and families in poverty.  The Indianapolis Retirement Home Fund's funding priority for the fall of 2009 is to support organizations that align with the Indianapolis Retirement Home Fund's EAT (Elders at the Table) initiative.  Organizations which fit this funding priority will be notified by CICF staff in the fall of 2009.

For additional information on 2009 grant guidelines and priorities for the funds listed above or other CICF grantmaking funds, please download the CICF Grantseekers Guide.

Step 2: Application
You must first submit an Application before potentially being asked to submit a full grant proposal. You can submit an Application at any time. Please make sure you submit your Application well in advance of your project’s start date (note the timelines in the Competitive Grant Opportunities chart on page 4 of the Grantseekers Guide).

Download the Application Form to begin the process for the following competitive opportunities*:

Step 3: Application Review
After receiving your Application, CICF staff will determine if the request is a compatible request with each fund’s guidelines. Within three weeks of receiving your Application, CICF will notify you via mail or e-mail about whether your application fits any of our funds’ guidelines.

If your grant application is compatible, your notification will include the contact information of the CICF staff member assigned to your organization. Within the next 60 days, that staff member will contact you, and may schedule a meeting, set up a site visit and/or request more information for review. The staff will inform you to what fund(s) a full proposal can be made and of projected due dates that you will need to meet.

Step 4: Proposal preparation
If you are requested to submit a proposal to one of the competitive funds, your grant officer will send you the grant proposal materials and instructions via e-mail.
