Professional Advisor Leadership Council (PALC) Update

On June 23the Professional Advisor Leadership Council (PALC) convened at the Hamilton County Community Foundation to kick off their first of several meetings this calendar year. The meeting was held at the new Collaboration Hub, a new space and resource for Central Indiana not-for-profits located at Hamilton County Community Foundation. After a brief welcome from Tom Kilian Jr, president of Hamilton County Community Foundation and IMPACT Central Indiana, the members in attendance took a tour of the new facility and experienced the valuable space and resources the Collaboration Hub will provide to Central Indiana not-for-profit organizations.

After the tour, PALC received updates from Rob MacPherson, CICF’s vice president of development & strategy. Rob highlighted CICF’s plan for Marion County, providing an update on its efforts to create neighborhoods and environments that empower people, change systems that unfairly hold people back, and dismantle systemic racism.

Tom gave an exciting update on the priorities of Hamilton County Community Foundation and partnered with Jennifer Bartenbach, CICF’s executive vice president and chief financial officer, to provide a detailed overview of some of the exciting projects happening through IMPACT Central Indiana.

IMPACT Central Indiana is a multi-member LLC created by Central Indiana Community Foundation, The Indianapolis Foundation, and Hamilton County Community Foundation. IMPACT’s goal is to facilitate social impact investments into businesses, funds, entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations that generate positive and measurable social impact in the community. Donors are becoming more savvy when it comes to their giving, and Impact Investing is an excellent way for donors to creatively make a lasting difference in the Central Indiana community.

The meeting ended with a discussion on the proposed Accelerating Charitable Efforts Act and what the response has been from the CICF. Nothing has been passed with relation to the ACE Act at this time, but the CICF is closely monitoring the legislation.
