The Summer Youth Program Fund (SYPF) is a funding collaborative that provides grants, coordinates professional development opportunities, and disseminates community information to support summer programs serving Marion County youth. SYPF is designed to make the grant process easier for charitable organizations by using a single application form.
Having identified duplication in funding efforts, The Indianapolis Foundation and Lilly Endowment Inc. jointly administered $370,000 to 26 summer programs in the first year of SYPF. Since 1995, SYPF has awarded over $23.3 million in grants to support summer programs. SYPF has evolved from providing only emergency assistance to supporting quality daily, enhancement, residential and youth employment programs. The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), and Lilly Endowment, Inc. manage SYPF grantmaking and other activities.
In 2011, the funding partners are Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, The Clowes Fund, Inc., City of Indianapolis, DMD/HUD, Eli Lilly and Company, Hoover Family Foundation, The Indianapolis Foundation, JPMorgan Chase Foundation, Lilly Endowment, Inc., Lumina Foundation for Education and Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust.
