The Summer Youth Program Fund, a collaborative of 10 local and national partners, announced that grants totaling $2,886,669 will be awarded to 165 not-for-profit organizations serving Marion County youth. The grants will fund 207 summertime programs, activities and experiences for more than 93,000 individuals ages 4-24.
Summer Youth Program Fund continues to align its grant-making strategy with the summer youth jobs program, Project Indy, created by Mayor Joe Hogsett. In addition to summer youth employment, the funding collaborative also supported activities and programs such as, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) education, athletics and skills training. A few of the programs funded in 2018 include:

- La Plaza— ($8,000) Leadership Institute for Latino Youth and ($42,000) Summer Discovery
- Felege Hiywot Center Inc.— ($35,000) Develop Youth STEAM Educators Through Summer and Year-long Farm Work
- TRUST CORP/Indianapolis Housing Agency— ($33,000) PRIDE Summer Program

Founded in 1995 by The Indianapolis Foundation, an affiliate of Central Indiana Community Foundation, and Lilly Endowment Inc., the Summer Youth Program Fund was the first funding collaborative dedicated to summer youth programs in the United States. Since 1995, the collaborative has contributed more than $48 million in general operating and capital support to Marion County organizations that provide summertime programs that enrich the lives of young people and strengthen Indianapolis neighborhoods.
