CICF recently awarded $1,078,372 to 49 area not-for-profit organizations through The Indianapolis Foundation, a CICF affiliate, and Central Indiana Senior Fund, a CICF field of interest fund. Grants were approved by their respective boards and committee members in November.
Central Indiana Senior Fund
By 2030, 20 percent of Hoosiers will be over the age of 60—double the population in 2010 according to the US Census Bureau. Yet this growing population faces tremendous barriers. As life expectancy increases, so does the number of aging adults that cannot meet basic needs, including access to nutritious food or transportation.
In October 2014, the Central Indiana Senior Fund board awarded 34 grants totaling $693,506 to local organizations for projects that support the community’s elders as part of the fund’s annual grants.
