Ten Sheridan High School Seniors Receive Scholarships

The Sheridan Community School Scholarship Foundation Fund recently awarded 10 Sheridan High School seniors scholarships totaling $28,000 for the 2017-2018 school year. Just two years prior, the committee researched ways to ensure the scholarship fund would continue its original mission for generations to come—to provide scholarships to graduates from Sheridan High School.

Tom Kilian Jr. Named Legacy Fund President

Legacy Fund, the Hamilton County community foundation and a Central Indiana Community Foundation affiliate, has selected Tom Kilian Jr., as its next president. In his new role, Kilian will lead efforts to encourage major gifts and contributions for Hamilton County and spearhead the foundation’s community leadership.

Legacy Fund, Shepherd’s Center Announce Program to Streamline Senior-Focused Services in Hamilton County

Hamilton County has the highest per capita income ($84,449) in Indiana, yet 30 percent of its citizens 65 years of age and older live on less than $15,000 annually. There is no shortage of organizations to assist Hamilton County seniors living in poverty, but it is frequently challenging for elders to identify their most pressing needs and which organization to call to meet them.

Legacy Fund Awards $83,500 to Hamilton County Not-For-Profits

In its last grant allocation of 2016, Legacy Fund, a Central Indiana Community Foundation affiliate serving Hamilton County, awarded $83,500 to 10 not-for-profit organizations. Grantees receiving funding help to meet the increasing needs in Hamilton County, and break down barriers for various demographics of its residents.

CICF Announces Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Recipients

The four-year, full-tuition scholarship recipients were nominated by interview committees at The Indianapolis Foundation, a CICF affiliate serving Marion County, and Legacy Fund, a CICF affiliate serving Hamilton County. Seventy-two and thirty-five students were interviewed in each county, respectively, and finalists names were submitted to Independent Colleges of Indiana, Inc. for final scholarship selections.

Fairgoers will see a new addition to the 2016 Hamilton County 4-H Fair among the traditional sheep and cattle—a big, blue, polka-dotted bison! Visitors to Exhibition Hall A can see the painted fiberglass bison representing Hamilton County.
