Child Care Answers

Child Care Answers has recently entered a new era, dedicating ourselves to our new mission of championing central Indiana’s early care and education ecosystem by equipping child care professionals with shared knowledge, coordinated supports, and strategic partnerships. We recently transitioned from a government-funded child care resource and referral model to a targeted, systems-level approach supported by philanthropy, corporate sponsorship, and personal giving. We are focusing our efforts on building the capacity and long-term stability of the early childhood workforce, ensuring that children, families, and communities have access to quality, affordable care. At the heart of our new model is the Central Indiana Child Care Alliance, which delivers shared services such as business coaching, operational tools, and peer collaboration to help family child care home programs run sustainable businesses. We also bridge critical sector gaps by providing professional development opportunities, coordinating regional child care supports, and facilitating strategic community partnerships.

To successfully execute this refined mission, Child Care Answers requires philanthropic investment to bridge the gap left by shifting public funding and state contract changes. We specifically need funding to expand our professional development infrastructure and to build out our shared services model. These resources will ensure that local child care professionals, the majority of whom are women and individuals of color, receive the training and business support necessary to remain operational and viable. We will use secured funds across three primary strategic areas:

• Programmatic Expansion: We will invest in specialized staff to design and deliver high-quality, culturally responsive business training, budget planning, and operational coaching. We plan to accomplish this through regional child care resource specialists embedded in local counties, as a well as staff dedicated to professional development and business coaching.
• Technology and Infrastructure: Funds will enhance our customer relationship management systems and website capabilities, transforming our digital presence into an accessible hub for resources for child care professionals.
• Capacity Building and Sustainability: We will allocate resources toward organizational health, specifically targeting multi-year financial modeling, board governance development, and leadership succession planning to guarantee long-term operational resilience. As we shift our revenue model, we will need funds to kickstart our fundraising, grant writing, and relationship-building with corporate and philanthropic partners.

Through these targeted investments, Child Care Answers will eliminate access barriers for historically under-resourced child care professionals, stabilize the local child care supply, and foster a more equitable early education ecosystem across central Indiana.
