Saving Our Sons Initiative

Saving Our Sons Initiative (SOSI) is a Black woman–led nonprofit organization based in Indianapolis focused on improving cardiovascular health and expanding prevention education in underserved communities. SOSI works to address the disproportionate impact of heart disease and hypertension among Black men and families through culturally responsive, community-based programming.

Programs are intentionally delivered in trusted neighborhood settings such as community centers, barbershops, schools, and faith-based organizations to reduce barriers to access and strengthen community trust. Through heart health education, blood pressure awareness initiatives, and youth and family prevention programs, SOSI helps individuals understand cardiovascular risk earlier and adopt healthier habits before serious health complications occur.

Donor support allows SOSI to expand community education programming, train volunteers and facilitators, purchase blood pressure education equipment and outreach materials, and strengthen the operational infrastructure needed to scale responsibly. Contributions help ensure sustainability, accountability, and measurable community impact across Central Indiana.
