Trinity Haven

Trinity Haven's programs are available LGBTQ+ young people who are residents of Indiana, and the majority of those we serve are from counties outside of Marion County. Our Transitional Living Program is located in Indianapolis, and our Collaborative Housing Program is in Indianapolis, Muncie, Bloomington, and West Lafayette.

About Trinity Haven

Trinity Haven is not a temporary solution to homelessness; we are the only housing program in Indiana focused solely on LGBTQ+ young people. We serve LGBTQ+ young people who have been made homeless due to familial/social rejection because of who they are. We are a comprehensive intervention to circumvent the vicious cycle of chronic homelessness.

Located in Indianapolis, we were founded in 2018 with the mission of providing safe, affirming housing for LGBTQ+ young people. We currently offer two programs to assist homeless LGBTQ+ young people between the ages of 18-24:

1. Our Transitional Living Program (TLP) is a 24-month program providing a safe and welcoming congregate home. This program is designed to help young people learn essential life skills and build community in order to prepare for living independently.

2. Our Collaborative Housing Program (CHP) provides short-term housing in a safe, temporary, welcoming space for up to six months where the young person has time to make decisions about the permanent housing options available to them with the support of a Trinity Haven case manager.

In addition to being LGBTQ+, the majority of our clients experience compounding trauma and bias: in 2025, 58% were also BIPOC, 24% had a disability, and 83% experienced violence prior to coming to Trinity Haven. Our compassionate and skilled staff spend over 8 hours per week with each client which is what makes our approach so unique: intensive, individualized support to help these young people heal and thrive.

The political, legislative, and social climates of the last few years have been particularly traumatic, hurtful, and frightening for the LGBTQ+ community. Despite that, we remain steadfast in our commitment to investing in the futures of the incredible LGBTQ+ young people in our programs and creating a space that celebrates and affirms them just as they are.

Because of our mission and focus, we are not able to accept any federal funding at this time. We rely on the support of those in the Central Indiana community through individual, corporate, and faith-based donations as well as those provided by foundation grants. We believe that donors should direct their generosity to activities that mean the most to them. Funds awarded to Trinity Haven can be applied to the area of most need (general fund), staff salaries, essential resident needs, or to the maintenance of our congregate home on the near north side.

We remain awed and grateful for the support in Central Indiana for organizations doing excellent work with some of the most vulnerable people. Thank you for your continued support and investment in the futures of so many!
