About Indianapolis Symphonic Choir
The Indianapolis Symphonic Choir (ISC) seeks funding to support its mission of fostering community connection, education, and broad access to the choral arts. Since its founding in 1937, ISC has served as a cultural cornerstone in Indianapolis, bringing people together through the power of collective singing for nearly nine decades.
Community involvement and education are central to ISC’s work. Initiatives such as the Spotlight Choir feature local school choirs in mainstage performances, creating meaningful performance experiences for young singers and deepening community ties. ISC also offers Pay What You Can ticketing programs, ensuring performances are accessible to individuals and families across socioeconomic backgrounds. Through intentional programming and outreach, ISC upholds a commitment to inclusivity, equity, and access, affirming that choral music is for everyone—regardless of race, identity, income, or ability.
Funding also supports ISC’s investment in new works and artistic excellence. The choir regularly commissions and premieres new choral masterworks, contributing to the national choral repertoire while reflecting contemporary voices and perspectives. High-caliber performances are made possible through support for artist and production costs, including professional musicians, technical crews, and rental of premier performance venues.
In addition, philanthropic support helps sustain ISC’s operational capacity—staffing, marketing, development, and strategic planning efforts—ensuring long-term organizational stability and impact. With continued investment, ISC can grow its reach, deepen community partnerships, and remain a national leader in choral music.
By supporting the Indianapolis Symphonic Choir, funders are investing in a more vibrant, inclusive, and connected community—where choral music serves as both a mirror and a bridge for all who call Indianapolis home.
