About RDOOR Housing Corporation

RDOOR is a non-profit organization located in Indianapolis, Indiana focused on providing housing and services to at risk populations. We strive to sustain affordable housing to ensure individuals and families have a safe and affordable place to live and provide housing stabilizing services to keep them housed long term. Under our HomeNow Indy services team we work with the local Indianapolis Continuum of Care to remove barriers for our neighbors experiencing homelessness to get housed and stay stably housed. We take an innovate approach by addressing homelessness under the collective impact model and creating tangible system level change in our community. We collaborate with many community partners to provide valuable financial assistance. We also administer housing programs that address housing as a social determinant of health and utilize our expertise to make meaningful health outcome impacts.

The HomeNow Indy initiative works to create access to housing for vulnerable populations at risk or experiencing homelessness. We work with low-income individuals and families to remove the systemic barriers faced when trying to obtain safe and affordable housing. We serve individuals, families, seniors, veterans, youth and those that are chronically homeless because housing insecurity can impact anyone. We work diligently to connect people experiencing homelessness with supportive housing, services and financial assistance as we respond to emergent housing needs. Our approach is based on Housing First principles, person-centered care, and community collaboration.

The HNI initiative focuses on populations facing immense challenges to overcome homelessness and achieve housing stability by reorienting and expanding a system-wide, coordinated rehousing infrastructure that aims to streamline rehousing efforts and take them to scale. HNI supports a team of dedicated professionals focused on expanding housing inventory, engaging and incentivizing landlords, housing problem solving and diversion, helping households navigate the (re)housing process, and leveraging a flexible funding pool to rapidly overcome barriers to safe, habitable, and affordable housing.

In partnership with homeless service providers, this initiative rebalances the capacity of providers to do what they do best- provide client-facing supportive services to households experiencing homelessness. HNI seeks to alleviate and streamline the administrative and fiscal management of rental assistance programs to support a realignment of the skills and talents to support households through an often bureaucratic and cumbersome housing process to help reduce the time and barriers to obtaining permanent housing. HNI has worked to refine its efforts by adapting the model to meet other critical system needs. HNI has created an infrastructure that has added significant capacity to the homeless response system and has secured new partnerships and investments to serve more and different types of households experiencing homelessness.
