Hamilton County Historical Society

The mission of the Hamilton County Historical Society is to preserve and interpret the history of Hamilton County, create an interest, awareness and appreciation of our history and be a clearinghouse for county wide historical preservation.

About Hamilton County Historical Society

The Hamilton County Historical Society, housed in the Old Sheriff’s Residence and Jail on the courthouse square in Noblesville, showcases life in Hamilton County throughout time. With several rotating exhibit spaces alongside our historic jail and period-accurate rooms in the sheriff’s home, we welcome over 2,500 visitors each year. Our Historical Society stewards important local history collections, and also has run the Santa House on the Square for over 50 years. As we are a donations-based museum, every dollar we receive goes towards improving our museum space and operations. This could mean adding new events to our calendar, acquiring new collections, or making vital repairs to our almost 150 year old building.
