Fall Bus Tours – Hamilton County and Marion County

We’re excited to share two opportunities to learn about and experience the work of nonprofits working in Central Indiana with a focus on Hamilton County and Marion County.

Hamilton County – Focus: Basic Needs

  • Tuesday, September 9, at 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., starting at Hamilton County Community Foundation
  • There is an additional option to stay until 3 p.m. to visit Family Promise of Hamilton County and Sheridan Schools/Sheridan Youth Assistance Program

Join the Hamilton County Community Foundation Board on Tuesday, September 9, spotlighting local organizations working to ensure every neighbor’s basic needs are met in Hamilton County. Hear from Trinity Free Clinic and Grace Care Center as they share the vital work they’re doing to support the community.

For those who would like to extend their experience until 3 p.m., we will also be visiting Family Promise of Hamilton County and Sheridan Schools/Sheridan Youth Assistance Program to learn about their important work. If you choose to extend your day, during lunch, you will also hear about the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) population in Hamilton County from the United Way of Central Indiana.

Marion County – Focus: Food Insecurity

  • Wednesday, September 17, at 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., starting at the English Foundation Building

We will explore the theme of food insecurity in Marion County. The event will begin with a panel discussion with representatives from the Indy Hunger Network, Gleaners, Eskenazi Health Foundation, and The Milk Bank to understand how they each approach the challenge of hunger in a unique way. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insight into these initiatives. Access to healthy food options supports the Indianapolis Foundation’s commitment to health equity.

Then we will hop on the bus to visit a school partner of A Longer Table (formerly the Patachou Foundation) to see a food partnership working with schools to provide healthy meals to students.

Next, we will head to Second Helpings, whose unique model not only combats food insecurity but also rescues food that would otherwise be thrown away and trains people for careers in the culinary industry. We’ll have an opportunity to experience the work of their chefs by enjoying lunch!

These programs are hosted by Central Indiana Community Foundation, Hamilton County Community Foundation, the Indianapolis Foundation, and Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, who work together through the CICF Collaborative to provide meaningful and effective philanthropic services to donors throughout Central Indiana and beyond.

Seating is limited, so RSVP soon to get your spot! We hope you will hop on the bus and join fellow philanthropists and advisors to learn more about how philanthropy helps meet the needs of the community and creates opportunities for all to thrive in Central Indiana.
