TeenWorks

The mission of TeenWorks is to empower teens to achieve excellence in community, college, and career.

About TeenWorks

Hard work, self-discipline and giving back to the community are the attributes Indiana philanthropist Gene B. Glick desired to instill in teens when founding his Pro 100 summer jobs program in 1981. Today, over 40 years later, TeenWorks is a youth development organization committed to providing teens from underserved communities with equitable access to professional experiences, personal development, and college and career readiness support. What sets TeenWorks apart is our holistic, multi-tiered approach, blending paid, real-world work experience with structured life skills training and long-term mentorship.

Our programs are designed not only to employ youth but to empower them with the confidence, skills, and vision to thrive in adulthood. TeenWorks works with the mission to empower teens to achieve excellence in community, college, and career.

TeenWorks continues to provide underrepresented and underserved young people with incredible employment, education and empowerment opportunities through our continuum of programs:

  • Summer Program: provides teens with professional development training and paid work experience with our nonprofit worksite partners under the guidance of a TeenWorks supervisor, through a 6-week summer experience at a community-based nonprofit.
  • Pro Program: provides teens with year-round employment support, including college and career readiness activities, essential professional development, and skills training workshops to prepare students for the next steps in their post-secondary journey and the 21st century workplace.
  • Alumni Services: offer TeenWorks alumni access to extensive workforce development training, scholarship dollars, and personalized coaching to promote self-management and persistence through college graduation, the military, trade school, and the workforce.

Essential to the TeenWorks approach is our commitment to breaking down barriers that keep economically disadvantaged teens from having workforce experience. TeenWorks provides transportation and healthy meals to alleviate that worry, allowing teens to get the most out of their experience.
