About the Indiana Association for the Gifted

The Indiana Association for the Gifted supports Indiana’s high ability students by advocating for strong policy, providing professional learning, and building community for educators and families. High ability students are found in every community across Indiana, and appropriate identification, services, and opportunities help ensure that these students are challenged, supported, and able to more fully develop their talents.

IAG serves educators, families, advocates, and policymakers through statewide professional learning, resources, scholarships, advocacy, and community building. Our annual conference is Indiana’s only statewide conference dedicated to high ability education and brings together educators, coordinators, administrators, counselors, and advocates for learning, collaboration, and conversation focused on advancing high ability education across Indiana.

Charitable gifts to IAG help create pathways for Indiana’s high ability students to grow their talents, pursue their interests, and reach their full potential. Donors may support three key funding needs.

The Ginny Burney Scholar Program expands access to talent development opportunities by supporting educator training and mentorship, with an emphasis on expanding opportunity for students who are historically underrepresented in gifted programs. Gifts to this program help educators better identify, serve, and support students whose gifts may otherwise be overlooked.

The IAG Scholarship Fund supports merit-based scholarships for Indiana high school seniors. These scholarships recognize students who demonstrate strong academic achievement, engagement, leadership, potential, and a commitment to learning. IAG also offers a scholarship for a high ability student with one or more documented additional exceptionalities, recognizing students whose academic strengths coexist with other learning, behavioral, emotional, or physical challenges. Scholarship funds help students take the next step in their education and continue developing their talents in college.

Gifts to Areas of Greatest Need provide flexible support for IAG’s most urgent needs and emerging opportunities. These funds may be used to strengthen advocacy efforts, expand professional learning, develop resources for educators and families, support statewide community building, and respond to opportunities that directly benefit high ability students across Indiana.

Support for IAG helps ensure that gifted students across Indiana are not overlooked, but instead encouraged to grow, thrive, and contribute their strengths to their schools and communities.
