About the Program

Regional community foundations are gathering for an afternoon to help increase generosity across Central Indiana. Together with community foundation consultant Bryan Clontz, we’ll explore how to build stronger relationships with the attorneys, financial planners, and other advisors who guide families’ giving, so more of those gifts are referred to local community foundations. Afterward, you’ll have the chance to meet and network with professional advisors.

Who should attend
Leaders and development or gift planning staff from community foundations in Central Indiana. Each foundation can send whoever is best positioned to put these ideas to work, including board members, so bring as many colleagues from your team as you’d like. Please have each team member register separately.

Schedule
1:30 โ€“ 2:30 p.m. Session with Bryan Clontz
2:30 โ€“ 3:30 p.m. Networking with professional advisors

About the session
Success in planned giving is simply saying the right thing to the right people at the right time. This interactive session focuses on a three-part approach to planned giving prospecting: the insiders (board and staff), the already sold (long-term loyal donors and volunteers), and everyone else. Bryan will share the specific script and recipe to use with each group so your marketing time is leveraged and productive.

On professional advisors, here’s how Bryan describes the opportunity:

“Nothing grows community foundations faster than strong professional advisor referrals. The funds are generally 3-5 times larger, come in 3 times quicker, and the advisor community literally becomes an unpaid salesforce advocating for your community foundation.”

He’ll go deep on the various advisor types, incentives, disincentives, language, approach, and tracking and recognition that can take your program from 0-100 mph. He’ll also address how perceptions vs. reality can damage or enhance your advisor outreach.

Why attend
You’ll leave with scripts and approaches to try in your own county, and the networking hour that follows lets you start using them right away by meeting professional advisors in person. It’s also a chance to compare notes with colleagues from neighboring foundations.
