Planned giving can be a cornerstone of a nonprofit’s long-term stability, and it doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive. As a benefit for nonprofits that hold an agency fund or endowment at CICF, Hamilton County Community Foundation, or The Indianapolis Foundation, CICF is bringing in planned giving expert Bryan Clontz to show you how to build a program in about 2-3 hours a month, with no budget required. You’ll leave with a step-by-step plan to use when you’re back in the office, and you’ll learn alongside other nonprofit fundholders.
Who should attend
Nonprofit leaders and development staff, whether you’re a one-person shop or part of a larger development team. Board members and volunteers are welcome to join you. This session is for nonprofits that hold an agency fund or endowment at Central Indiana Community Foundation, Hamilton County Community Foundation, or the Indianapolis Foundation. It’s designed for organizations looking to learn more about planned giving, explore ways to grow their endowment, or refresh and strengthen the planned giving strategies and practices they already have in place.

Planned Giving With a Shoe-String Staff and a Shoe-String Budget
In this session, attendees will learn how to create or enhance a robust planned giving program with no money and in just 2-3 hours per month. Bryan will explain planned giving in simple terms and describe what really motivates donors to give, then walk through a practical plan to grow your endowment, covering board engagement, prospecting, marketing, cultivating donors, having the conversation, gift documentation, and recognition. The session is highly interactive and full of specific how-to suggestions, almost like a recipe, and you’ll leave with a step-by-step action plan for when you get back to the office. Over the last 20 years, more than 3,000 attendees have enjoyed and benefited from the planned giving talk this session builds on, and nearly everyone says, “I never thought it could be this easy and for absolutely no money!”
Why attend
This session makes planned giving approachable, with practical steps your organization can take on its own schedule and budget. It’s also a chance to learn alongside other nonprofit leaders and development staff, trade questions and ideas with people working on similar goals, and meet colleagues from other fundholder organizations before the session begins.
