ArtMix transforms the lives of people with disabilities through the creation of art.

About ArtMix

Since 1982, ArtMix has provided equitable opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in every aspect of life to the best of their abilities and desires, including providing community-based opportunities in an inclusive, artistic, and creative atmosphere. ArtMix nurtures the passions and interests of more than 7,200 people of varying abilities through instructional art classes, arts-based workforce development programs, and opportunities to sell, display, view, and purchase artwork. ArtMix’s primary purpose has been to provide accessible art education to the community. ArtMix’s core programs and special projects reduce and eliminate negative stereotypes of disability through adaptive, inclusive arts programs that position all participants as capable creators. Our Urban Artisans program is a year-round, weekly vocational internship program that serves 140+ high school students annually in studio arts and fine craft with the primary goal of helping them transition from high school into the community or workforce. Artists in Residence programming is an off-site, fee-for-service formal program that provides opportunities for creativity and self-expression in community settings for students of all ages. Our signature on-site Community Arts Classes provide year-round programming to all ages and abilities that encourage self-expression and socialization. Funding would be used to support our growing ArtMix programming through program supplies, professional development for our Teaching Artists, and general operating expenses.
