Beacon of Hope Crisis Center

Beacon of Hope Crisis Center is a Christ-centered organization empowering victims of domestic violence and sexual assault to become self-sufficient by providing safety, education, and support.

Beacon of Hope Crisis Center

Beacon of Hope Crisis Center provides a confidential and safe environment for individuals who have experienced domestic violence or sexual assault. We serve all. Our team offers essential support through safety planning, service referrals, and guidance on available resources. We assist clients in several ways, including preparing filings and paperwork, providing accompaniment and counseling, locating beds in domestic violence shelters, arranging temporary housing for pets while survivors are in the emergency shelter, and supporting the healing process and long-term independence. Our goal is to help survivors achieve self-sufficiency and an improved quality of life. At Beacon of Hope Crisis Center, we provide everything but the beds.

We are currently facing a critical shortage in both our general operating funds and the direct assistance funds we provide for our clients. Furthermore, we are anticipating a decrease of up to 40% in federal funding in the fall. This significant reduction will fundamentally alter our service model and, unfortunately, will result in a loss of staff and our inability to meet basic operating needs. These budget constraints will also require us to terminate several essential contractual services, including our counseling and art therapy programs.

Depending on the amount of funding received, proceeds will be used to support operating costs, contractual services, direct client assistance, and potentially personnel costs. Direct client assistance and counseling are the two most requested services at our agency. Currently, we have funds available to provide individual counseling, support groups, alternative therapy, and art classes. These services have been well received by our clients, as they facilitate both emotional and physical healing while providing essential coping mechanisms and domestic violence education. These services are subject to change as of October 2026.

Direct client assistance requests occur regularly; however, we are currently limited by the scope and funding of our existing grants. We frequently must provide referrals because the costs exceed our allocated budget. Additional funding for direct client assistance would allow us to help clients secure safe housing by covering the first month’s rent, security deposits, and utility fees. Furthermore, it would enable us to assist with transportation needs and provide gift cards for essential household items and groceries.

To address our recent budget shortage and ensure the continuity of our services, we are proactively seeking new sources of unrestricted funding. Securing flexible support is critical at this time, and we would appreciate any connections regarding potential philanthropic partners or grant opportunities that align with this need.
