About Central Indiana Land Trust
Founded in 1990, Central Indiana Land Trust, Inc. (CILTI) is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to conserving ecologically important natural areas of Central Indiana.
With more than 8,000 acres protected, CILTI safeguards Indiana’s most treasured and irreplaceable landscapes for the benefit of every Hoosier. The land trust’s mission is to protect the last, best places in the state. The organization works to protect the character of natural Indiana, focusing on forest habitat, tallgrass prairie, marshes and wetlands, endangered species habitats, and other rare ecosystems like glades and barrens. These places took thousands of years to evolve but can be destroyed in a day. That fact drives the urgency of this work.
From iconic landmarks like Lower Sugar Creek to the ancient trees of Meltzer Woods, Indiana’s breathtaking natural wonders foster a deep, lasting connection between people and the environment. The organization stewards many publicly accessible nature preserves with a goal of fostering wonder in Hoosiers of all ages. Funding supports land acquisition and restoration, including tree plantings, building a healthier, more vibrant Indiana.
By protecting irreplaceable natural spaces, CILTI preserves Indiana’s history and traditions, ensuring our communities continue to be a great place to live for generations to come. With your partnership, we can accelerate the pace of conservation to improve the lives of all Hoosiers. Join us in creating a healthier and brighter future for all.
