Conservation Law Center

Advancing conservation in Indiana and across the country through law, advocacy, and education.

About Conservation Law Center

The Conservation Law Center (CLC) is the only public interest environmental law firm in Indiana, and uniquely, the only law clinic in the United States dedicated exclusively to conservation. We provide expert legal support to land trusts, conservation organizations, and communities, addressing the transactional, policy, and litigation matters that shape the future of Indiana’s lands and waters.

Through our work, we help conserve forests, farmland, and wildlife habitats; protect clean water and wetlands; and advance community-driven conservation solutions. Our attorneys partner with landowners and nonprofits to secure conservation easements, defend public access to natural resources, and challenge threats to critical ecosystems.

CLC also operates the Conservation Law Clinic at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, where we train the next generation of environmental attorneys. Law students gain hands-on experience working with real clients, developing the skills and commitment needed to serve the public interest in their future careers.

Philanthropic support is vital to sustaining and expanding this work. Funding directly supports legal representation for conservation groups that could not otherwise afford it, protects vulnerable communities pursuing their own conservation priorities, and ensures that all Hoosiers have access to healthy, thriving natural spaces. Contributions also strengthen our ability to train student interns, broaden our statewide impact, and respond quickly to urgent conservation challenges.

By investing in the Conservation Law Center, donors help secure Indiana’s natural heritage for all Hoosiers and for generations to come.
