About the Domestic Violence Prevention Network
The Domestic Violence Prevention Network (DVPN) exists to change the culture that leads to domestic violence through advocacy, education, and collaboration in the community at large. Donations to DVPN contribute to the continuation of our impactful programs.
We believe that when community members are empowered with the right knowledge, they can stop abuse before it starts. Our adult education program reaches over 1,300 people each year, including employees at businesses like Salesforce, university students, healthcare professionals, and survivors. These trainings are tailored to specific audiences. For example, we teach dental students at Indiana University how to recognize signs of abuse in patients, and educators learn how to address teen dating violence in their classrooms.
For younger generations, we focus on building healthy relationships early. The Change Project is a five-day curriculum brought to 1,200 high school students annually, teaching them about red flags, consent, and how to support their peers affected by domestic violence. Alongside this, our student-led Youth Network meets monthly at Crispus Attucks High School and Shortridge High School to raise awareness around domestic violence and promote healthy relationship skills.
Finally, DVPN supports the professionals who help survivors directly. Through our Advocates Network, frontline staff connect for training and better coordination between agencies. Our Directors Network brings together agency leaders to tackle bigger challenges, such as funding changes and state policy, ensuring the entire system works more effectively together.
