Heaven After Hell Animal Rescue

Heaven After Hell Rescue is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3) animal rescue that has been serving animals in need since 2011. Our mission is to give shelter animals a voice and a second chance at a loving forever home. We rescue dogs and cats from open-intake and high-kill shelters throughout Indiana, including both highly adoptable pets and animals facing significant medical or behavioral challenges. Every animal in our care receives comprehensive veterinary treatment, including age-appropriate vaccinations, preventative care, spay/neuter services, and micro-chipping.

We also work to socialize our animals and improve their basic manners and house-training skills to help them succeed in adoptive homes. We are committed to full transparency regarding each animal’s health and behavioral history so adopters can make informed decisions. Our goal is not only to save lives but also to create lasting, successful matches between animals and the families who welcome them. As a nonprofit organization that receives no state funding, we rely entirely on donations, grants, adoption fees, and the dedication of our volunteers and foster families.

After more than a decade in our current facility, the building can no longer safely support the level of care our animals deserve. Over the years, we have faced persistent challenges including flooding, lengthy water outages, repeated HVAC failures, structural issues that allow wildlife to enter the building, and ongoing maintenance problems that were often left unresolved. These conditions have not only impacted the comfort and safety of the dogs and cats in our care but have also diverted valuable time, energy, and financial resources away from our core mission of saving and rehabilitating animals. Recently, we were notified of a substantial rent increase and learned that the property has been listed for sale, creating additional uncertainty about our future.

Rather than continue investing in a facility that no longer meets our needs, we have chosen to move forward with a new location that will provide a safer, more stable environment for the animals who depend on us. While this move brings increased costs and significant planning, it will create a safer, more stable environment and better reflects who we are as an organization and the level of care we strive to provide. To fully utilize the new facility and expand our lifesaving capacity, we are seeking funding of up to $30,000 for the purchase and installation of new kennels and secure fencing. These improvements will enhance animal safety, improve daily care and sanitation, and allow us to rescue more animals from Indiana’s open-intake and high-kill shelters.

With the support of our community and funding partners, we can continue providing lifesaving care, rehabilitation, and hope for homeless, neglected, abused, and at-risk animals across Indiana.
