Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center

INRC strengthens neighborhoods by empowering the people who live in them.

About the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center

At the Indianapolis Neighborhood Resource Center (INRC), we believe strong neighborhoods are built by the people who live in them. For nearly 30 years, INRC has walked alongside residents across Central Indiana, helping them turn ideas into action and build the kinds of communities they want to call home.

Every day, we work with neighbors who care deeply about their blocks but may not have access to the training, funding, or connections needed to move their ideas forward. Through programs like the Indianapolis Community Building Institute (ICBI), Neighbor Power Indy, and our new Legacy Allies initiative, we equip residents with leadership skills, small grants, and supportive networks that help them create real change, from community gardens and youth programs to neighborhood cleanups and local partnerships.

Our current focus is on expanding leadership development in historically under-resourced neighborhoods, where resident voices have too often been overlooked. By investing directly in grassroots leaders, we help ensure that solutions come from within the community, not just from outside institutions.

Donor support makes it possible for INRC to provide training, mini-grants, and community-building opportunities that strengthen neighborhoods across the region. Flexible funding allows us to respond to emerging needs, support resident-led ideas, and build a more connected, equitable Central Indiana—one neighborhood at a time.
