Solar United Neighbors

We’re a community of people building a new energy system with rooftop solar at the cornerstone. We help people go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights. We envision a clean, affordable, and equitable energy system that directs control and benefits back to local communities, with solar on every roof and money in every pocket.

About Solar United Neighbors

Solar United Neighbors (SUN) is dedicated to building a clean, affordable, and equitable energy system with rooftop solar as the cornerstone. Since launching our Indiana program in 2019, SUN has helped more than 300 Hoosier families, nonprofits, and small businesses around the state save money with solar energy while educating thousands more about the benefits of local solar. Our efforts to expand solar access so that all Hoosiers can benefit include implementing and supporting successful programs that have helped dozens of income-qualified Hoosier families install solar panels with grant funding. In addition to providing direct support for people interested in installing solar, we’ve organized a growing network of grassroots solar advocates and volunteers across the state that are ready to mobilize to fight for fair energy policies.

With additional funding, SUN will add additional capacity to further organize and mobilize Hoosier solar owners and supporters around the state to go solar, join together, and fight for their energy rights. We are also committed to expanding solar access to more families who can’t afford rooftop solar on their own and would like to use additional funds to cover installation costs for more income-qualified families.
