Central Indiana Announces TrailMixer, a Weeklong Festival Celebrating the Launch of The Trailways

A new way to explore Central Indiana launches April 25 with The Trailways, a connected network of more than 800 miles of trails across the region. The initiative will debut with a digital platform and a weeklong celebration, TrailMixer.

Launching in conjunction with National Celebrate Trails Day, The Trailways brings together one of the nation’s most expansive community trail systems into a single, user-friendly resource, making it easier for cyclists, walkers and runners to navigate from Point A to Point B, both online and on the ground.

TrailMixer will take place April 25 through May 3, activating businesses, cultural districts and restaurants along the trails with special events, merchandise and opportunities to engage with The Trailways.

More than 50 activations will occur across Central Indiana, including complimentary coffee along the Monon Trail in Carmel, bilingual yoga in Riverside Park, musical trail experiences in Brookside, bird walks in Avon and service projects supporting trails such as the Pennsy Trail, Pleasant Run Trail, and Nickel Plate Trail.

On Saturday, April 25, TrailMixer will feature pop-up activations from The Shop along Indy’s trails, offering complimentary, customizable hats (while supplies last). Three major hubs: The Amp, the Factory Arts District and the Monon Trail near Hotel Broad Ripple, will anchor the day’s celebrations. A full list of events is available online.

The Trailways initiative is led by Visit Indy and Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF), in partnership with park systems and destination partners across Central Indiana.
