Charitable Advisors Joins Central Indiana Community Foundation
Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) is making a major investment in Indiana’s nonprofit infrastructure by bringing Charitable Advisors—one of the state’s most trusted nonprofit resources—into the organization as part of CICF’s effort to strengthen nonprofit leadership and capacity across Central Indiana.
At a time of growing demand and increasing complexity for nonprofits, CICF is expanding the systems, support, and connections organizations need to serve Central Indiana communities effectively. Indiana’s civic model has long depended on a strong, well-supported nonprofit ecosystem, and CICF sees strengthening that infrastructure as essential community work. By listening to nonprofit leaders and identifying critical gaps, CICF is intentionally building greater capacity and support for the organizations communities rely on every day.
“Strong communities require strong nonprofits. That includes more consistent services, support for residents, and greater capacity to respond when needs rise,” said Jennifer Bartenbach, CEO of CICF. “Charitable Advisors has built a trusted platform that helps nonprofit leaders access the information, talent and relationships they need to lead strong organizations. Bringing that work into CICF strengthens a critical part of Central Indiana’s civic infrastructure.”
Charitable Advisors will serve as a key part of CICF’s expanding nonprofit support efforts and will retain its name, team, and core services, with its founder and president, Bryan Orander, continuing to lead the organization.
For more than 25 years, Charitable Advisors has connected nonprofit leaders to talent, insight, compensation data, peer networks, and strategic support. The organization has become one of Indiana’s most trusted nonprofit resources, helping leaders make informed decisions and stay connected to the broader sector. To date, Charitable Advisors has published more than 1,200 editions of Not-for-profit News, shared more than 15,000 job postings, supported 120 executive searches, published 12 nonprofit salary surveys, and served more than 300 nonprofit consulting clients.
“When my daughters were young and asked about my work, I told them Charitable Advisors helps the people who help people,” said Bryan Orander, founder and Executive Director of Charitable Advisors. “That doesn’t change. Joining CICF gives us the capacity to build on that foundation, turn more ideas into action and strengthen the support system for the organizations serving Indiana communities every day.”
Together, CICF and Charitable Advisors will expand leadership development, workforce resources, sector communications, and opportunities for collaboration across the nonprofit community. Charitable Advisors will continue serving nonprofits statewide, while CICF’s strategic focus remains Central Indiana.
CICF has increasingly invested in the long-term sustainability of nonprofits through tools, training, and strategic support that help organizations navigate growth, fundraising challenges, and long-term sustainability. Launched in 2025, CICF’s Office Hours program is open to all Central Indiana nonprofits and offers leaders practical guidance and peer support as they respond to a rapidly changing landscape.
Residents may not always see the infrastructure behind the organizations serving Hoosiers, but they feel its impact when nonprofits have the leadership, information, partnerships, and resources to serve effectively. As Charitable Advisors joins CICF, both organizations will focus on maintaining the services nonprofits already rely on while building more capacity for the leaders and organizations serving Indiana communities.
