Our approach to ensure stability in our most vulnerable communities during this crisis

The health, vitality and quality of life for all our residents are of the greatest importance to us. This virus will undoubtedly have a significant and disproportionate impact on our most vulnerable populations and on our already challenged neighborhoods and communities. We have laid forth the plans below with this at the forefront of our collective thoughts.

Most importantly, we strongly encourage all residents, businesses, and not-for-profits to closely monitor the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations related to COVID-19 on a regular basis to ensure that the integrity of our health care systems remain intact and our residents remain as healthy as possible.

WHAT WE ARE DOING

CICF and its affiliates have adopted a four-pronged approach to the COVID-19 pandemic in Central Indiana to ensure that the health, economic stability, and service to our most vulnerable communities are being met during this crisis. Our actions, effective immediately, include:

If you are a current grantee and are concerned that you will not be able to meet specific requirements related to your last grant, please let your contact at the foundation know and we will make whatever adjustments are necessary. We are more than willing to create extensions for deliverables or reports and for our grant resources to be re-directed to support COVID-19-related impacts on your organization’s work.

Our staff has shifted to working remotely to reduce the risk of transmissions in the midst of concerns related to COVID-19. As this situation evolves, our concentration is on two guiding priorities:

Protecting the health and safety of our staff and the community which we interface with daily.
Safeguarding our ability to continue to support our fundholders and not-for-profits while also continuing the momentum of our strategic plan’s focus on a more equitable community for all of Central Indiana—no matter place, race or identity.

According to the CDC, a vital piece of reducing the risk of spreading any virus is to practice social distancing. Our offices will be closed now through April 30. However, our staff will continue our daily work and be available by phone, email and teleconferencing. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will adjust our plans as necessary.

We know it is critical for CICF and its affiliates to be responsive and supportive to the community during this pandemic. During this unsettling time that has no precedence within our lifetimes, we understand the seriousness of these events and the impact that they may have on our citizens—especially those among us that are most vulnerable. It is with great honor and sincere gratitude for your service and dedication to our community that we may also take confidence in knowing that we will overcome these challenges together.
