After a successful history of giving back, SEP forms The SEP Foundation
Carmel-based software product design and development company, SEP, has announced the formation of The SEP Foundation, a fund of Hamilton County Community Foundation. The SEP Foundation has allocated $75,000 to grant recipients throughout the Indianapolis area.
“From our employee-owned structure to the numerous ways our employees serve our community, giving back is part of who we are,” said Traci Dossett, SEP’s Chief Operating Officer. “Establishing The SEP Foundation was a natural progression to formalizing what we already do. Our employees are excited to help reach underserved groups and provide them with opportunities that they may not have had otherwise.”
Through an all company voting process, SEP selected three organizations to receive the 2019 grants. HVAF of Indiana, Horizon House and The Last Mile were selected because their programs align with the foundation’s interest areas: training and job skills development, financial self- sufficiency and overcoming the barriers of poverty, homeless and hunger.
“The Last Mile’s computer coding program has expanded to five correctional facilities in Indiana thanks to the support from local funders and government officials. Today, 67 learners are gaining valuable skills which can lead to gainful employment upon release into today’s high-tech environment,” said co-founder Beverly Parenti. “Receiving this grant from SEP will enable us to provide supplemental educational materials for an enhanced learning experience.”
Along with the three employee-selected grants, SEP has a long-standing relationship with corporate partners who also receive funds annually through the foundation.
“There’s a generosity that permeates SEP’s culture – with teammates helping each other hone their craft, sharing what we’ve learned with the technical community, helping our customers reach new heights and helping those in need,” explains SEP President and CEO, Raman Ohri. “Creating the Foundation solidifies our commitment to make the world a better place. It sounds cliche, but we mean it, and we’re investing in ways to make it a reality.”
The SEP Foundation is a fund of Hamilton County Community Foundation, which manages $73 million in assets and is an affiliate of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF).
