CICF Issues Matching Grant Challenge to Keep Ann Dancing

CICF will match all contributions, up to $25,000, made by Saturday, June 29

Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. today announced another matching challenge for the Keep Ann Dancing campaign. Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF) will match all donations, dollar for dollar, for the next $25,000 raised from the community for Ann Dancing. The matching opportunity starts Saturday, June 22 and runs through the last day of the crowdfunding campaign, Saturday, June 29. This opportunity doubles the impact of each gift made to support Ann Dancing and all of the free and accessible art on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn Glick.

“The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is a proud legacy project for CICF,” said Brian Payne, founder of the Cultural Trail, president and CEO of CICF, and president of The Indianapolis Foundation. The Keep Ann Dancing campaign not only promises to maintain the presence of an international artist on the trail and in our city, it also ensures access to high-quality art, nature and beauty, every day for everybodyThis has always been the vision for The Cultural Trail. We are happy to advance fundraising efforts to preserve free access to excellent world-renown art now and for the future.

The matching opportunity and the public fundraising campaign will conclude on Saturday, June 29 with a public, family-friendly Keep Ann Dancing dance party from 4:00 – 9:00 p.m. on the Cultural Trail at Mass Ave, Vermont and Alabama Streets. All contributions made at the free event will support the Keep Ann Dancing campaign, which includes D.J.s and dance performances and is the last public opportunity to contribute to Keep Ann Dancing.

“The Keep Ann Dancing campaign not only promises to maintain the presence of an international artist on the trail and in our city, it also ensures access to high-quality art, nature and beauty, every day for everybody.”

“We are grateful and excited to have this matching opportunity from CICF in the last week of the Keep Ann Dancing campaign.” said Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. executive director, Kären Haley. We are proud to continue their legacy of providing opportunities for everyone in our community to experience high quality public art, like Ann Dancing by Julian Opie on the Cultural Trail. Ann is such a public figure in our community and we want the challenge the community to help us Keep Ann Dancing.”

To date, the campaign has raised 52% of the campaign goal.

Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. announced on May 30 a fundraising campaign to Keep Ann Dancing. Ann Dancing, by Julian Opie, is the oldest piece of art on the Indianapolis Cultural Trail: A Legacy of Gene and Marilyn. Installed in January 2008, Ann Dancing is an electronic piece of art and is in need of a full replacement. The fundraising goal is $262,800 in four weeks and includes raising money to replace Ann Dancing, for an Ann Dancing maintenance fund, improvements to the Ann Dancing plaza on the Cultural Trail and funding for future high-profile public art on the Cultural Trail.

Ann Dancing is one of us, she’s an Indianapolis resident.”

Ann Dancing is one of us, she’s an Indianapolis resident,” Haley said. “People from all over the world have grown to love her just as we have. No contribution is too small. We want this campaign to be a way for everyone to Keep Ann Dancing, as she puts smiles on all of our faces as we walk by her every day.”
